Neil and Karen
In 2010 we walked the Coast to Coast path having been inspired by Julia Bradbury’s TV programme following in the footsteps of legendary guidebook writer Alfred Wainwright. As we walked towards Keld the scenery was breathtaking and we felt we were in a truly amazing place. By the time we left Keld the next day we had decided this was where we wanted to call home! It took 2 years to find the right property and a further 2 years to renovate it. We now provide unique accommodation in this beautiful location for walkers arriving on the many long distance paths that cross Keld or those who want a base to explore the Dales further either by foot, bike or car.
In 2022 we designed a range of T-Shirts, Prints and Souvenirs to celebrate the completion of the Coast to Coast, Pennine Way and Herriot Way, these are now available from our online shop
Neil
“I spent many years working for a brewery that produced ‘Probably the best lager in the world’ but gave that up to work full time on renovating the Old Farmhouse and Frith Lodge. At times it has felt like being trapped in a never ending episode of Grand Designs! However, now the building is complete it is a joy to share it with people from around the world, seeing the reaction and sense of place that people feel has been worth all the hard work.
Karen
“Together with Neil I have enjoyed walking and trekking around the world, especially in the Peak District, Brecon Beacons and West Coast of Ireland. Further afield to the Picos de Europa in Northern Spain and even further afield in New Zealand. We have had some really amazing walking holidays but nothing beats waking up every morning in the Yorkshire Dales!”
Jess
Our Bordie Collie ‘Jess’ is fantastic around the sheep…… showing no interest in them whatsoever! So don’t worry if she trots down the track to meet you and there are sheep around. She is super friendly as you’ll note from the constant wagging tail.
