The Wensleydale Creamery is a fantastic place to visit, approximately 25 minutes by car from Frith Lodge B&B. It combines a Visitor Centre with a Coffee Shop and Restaurant and a Cheese Shop with plenty of samples to help you choose what to take home with you.
The Museum
The Museum houses an old farmhouse kitchen and dairy complete with many old pieces of traditional cheese making equipment. In the school holidays there are demonstrations of cheese and butter making.
The Viewing Gallery
At the viewing gallery you can watch the creamery staff in action, using the traditional methods of cutting, stirring, pitching and salting. The viewing gallery gives a live insight into what makes Wensleydale a very special cheese.
Cheese Tasting
The Cheese Shop is packed with all the varieties so you can pick up your favourites and sample some new ones!
Gift Shop
The gift shop stocks a wide range of products from local and traditional recipe books to slate cheese boards and chocolate covered ‘sheep poo’ (which always goes down well with the kids!)
Restaurant
As you would expect from a restaurant housed in a creamery there are lots of homemade dishes using the creamery’s very own cheese, an absolutely wonderful menu to suit all tastes.
