Ravenseat Farm

Ravenseat Farm is the home to Amanda Owen ‘The Yorkshire Shepherdess’, her husband Clive and their nine children. The farm and family have featured extensively on TV over the years and now have their own show ‘Our Yorkshire Farm’ following their everyday lives throughout the farming year as they tend to their sheep, cattle and horses. Amanda has three best selling books ‘The Yorkshire Shepherdess’, ‘A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess’ and ‘Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess’ with a fourth ‘Tales from the Farm’ to be released early March 2021.

Many guests enjoy the circular walk to Ravenseat from Frith Lodge and then back via the Tan Hill Inn, (Britain’s highest pub). It’s a great and varied walk that takes in part of the Coast to Coast path and the Pennine Way. The walk takes in beautiful dale, river, the spectacular Wain Wath Falls and Cotterby Scar before reaching Ravenseat and then almost to the summit of Roberts Seat from where you can see Frith Lodge and Tan Hill on Stonesdale Moor.

Between April and October the Owens serve cream teas at Ravenseat, its best to check ahead if the absence of a cream tea is a dealbreaker to doing this walk, as you would expect in farming life, animals and free range children do sometimes have to take priority! If you are lucky enough to meet any of the family you’ll be assured of warm welcome.
